Digging into Data and making Choropleth Maps with 9th Grade Geography

Our 9th grade geography students are using Google Forms and Maps to collect data and create choropleth maps.  It’s much easier than you might think!  Come learn how to make colored heat-maps the easy way.  We’ll also show you how students use software to dig into the geography data,  analyzing it to draw meaning out of the numbers.

"I’m a big fan of data visualization, geographical information systems, and educational technology.  I’m a Google Certified Teacher (GTA UK ’12), GPS geek, and degree confluence hunter.  My dad was an Air Force navigator, so I grew up surrounded by maps.  I present as often as I can on topics like Google Spreadsheets, data literacy, green technology, paperless schools, and iPads in education.
